Ben H. Levey Succumbs
Ben H. Levey,
secretary of Barnett-Levey, wholesale dry goods firm, and a Memphian for the
past 18 years, died Monday morning at Baptist Hospital
after an illness of six months.
Mr. Levey was born
in Indianapolis, Ind., 74 years ago. He was in the manufacturing business in Colorado before moving to Oxford, Miss.
He moved to Memphis
several years later. Mr. Levey had
continued to maintain business interest at Oxford.
He was a member of Temple Israel
and B’nai B’rith, a Mason, a member of Scottish Rite
and a Shriner.
He made his home at Parkview Hotel.
Surviving are his
daughter, Mrs. Stanley Barnett; his granddaughter, Mrs. Fred Fine and two
great-grandchildren, all of Memphis, and his
brother, Harry Levey of Chicago.
Services were held Tuesday morning with Dr.
James A. Wax and the Rev. Dr. Harry W. Ettelson
officiating. Interment was in Temple Israel
Cemetery.
