Dr. Walter Levy Succumbs Monday
Dr. Walter R. Levy,
Jackson, Tenn.,
dentist for over 40 years before his retirement last March, died Monday
evening, September 26 at Baptist Hospital, Memphis,
where he had been a patient for several days following a heart attack. Dr. Levy would have celebrated his 67th
birthday October 16.
Rabbi Samuel Karff, of Jackson and Rabbi James Wax, of Memphis officiated at services held Wednesday
at B’nai Israel Temple, Jackson.
Interment was in B’nai Israel Cemetery.
Dr. Levy was born
in Nashville, Tennessee
and attended public schools and Vanderbilt
University there. He was a member of the District, state and
American Dental Associations and a fellow of the American College
of Dentistry. A noted Shrine leader and
organizer of the Jackson Shrine Club, he was representative to Imperial Council
in Chicago in
1935 representing Al Chymia.
He is survived by
his wife, the former Miss Sadie Steinberg, of Denver;
his daughter, Mrs. Milton Klein, of Atlanta; and
two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Salinger, Daytona Beach,
Fla., and Mrs. Victor Zeiff,
Memphis.
