Jake Manis Dies

Jake Manis of 2617 Broad, a retired scrap metal dealer, died about 11 Monday night after a five-year illness. He was 83.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon in the chapel at Anshei Sphard Cemetery.

Born in Poland, Mr. Manis came to Memphis in 1909. For several years afterwards, he worked for a meat packing company. He was an active member of Anshei Sphard and Beth El Emeth congregations and was a member of the board of Beth El Emeth.

Mr. Manis leaves three sons, Harry Manis of Miami Beach and Benny Manis and Herman Manis of Memphis; a daughter, Mrs. Sam Haimsohn, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
