Mrs. George Markowitz Passes Away
Mrs. Lillian Braver
Markowitz, 3802 Chickadee, wife of George Markowitz, died Thursday afternoon at
Baptist Hospital, where she had been a patient
for several weeks.
Mrs. Markowitz was
born in New York 48 years ago and had lived in
Memphis since
the age of 2. She was a member of B’nai
B’rith Women of Memphis, Senior Hadassah and Baron Hirsch Ladies
Auxiliary. Before her illness, she was a
secretary at the Jewish Welfare Fund and always found time to lend a helping hand
to local organizations.
Surviving besides
her husband, are her daughter, Mrs. Jerry H. Love, of Birmingham;
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Braver, of Memphis,
and a brother, Herman Braver, of Memphis.
Services were held
Friday afternoon at Thompson Bros. Mortuary.
Interment was in Baron
Hirsch Cemetery
with Rabbi Isadore Goodman officiating, assisted by
Cantor M. I. Levin and Cantor David Skopp.
