Solomon Shatz Dies
Solomon Schatz, retired
cotton and mercantile business man, died Saturday at Al Chymia
Shrine Temple following a heart attack.
He made his home at Parkview Hotel.
Mr. Schatz was
widely known in West Tennessee. He was founder of Schatz Cotton Company at Jackson, Tennessee, and
moved to Kenton, Tennessee before his retirement about ten
years ago. He was 89 years of age.
Mrs. Schatz was
active in Jewish affairs and was also a Mason.
Surviving are his
wife, Mrs. Rebecca Bauman Schatz; five sons, Sam Shatz,
Abe Shatz, and Louis Shatz,
of Mayfield, Ky.,
Dave Shatz, of Union City, Tenn. and Joe Shatz, of Martin, Tenn.; four daughters, Mrs. Iz Altman, of Cincinnati,
Mrs. Sam Byers, of Union City; Mrs.
Martin Thorner, of Franklin, Tenn.
And Mrs. Sam Lax, of Flat
River, Mo.; eight
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Jackson, Tenn.,
with Dr. James A. Wax officiating, at the B’nai Israel Temple. Interment was in B’nai Cemetery.
