Sam L. Weiss Passes Away
Sam L Weiss,
well-known Joiner, Ark.,
merchant and former Memphian, passed away following a heart attack Thursday
night at his home. Services were held
Sunday morning in Memphis
with Rabbi David Skopp officiating. Interment was in Baron Hirsch
Cemetery.
Mr. Weiss was born
in Memphis 62
years ago. He served in the Army
overseas during World War I. Upon his
return from military service, he opened the Sam L. Weiss Drygoods
Co. in Joiner.
He was a member of
the American Legion, the B’nai B’rith, and of Baron Hirsch Synagogue, of which
his father, the late Louis Weiss, was a charter member.
Surviving are his
wife, Mrs. Esther Silverstein Weiss, of Joiner; a sister, Mrs. Jack Harris, of New Orleans, and a brother, Meyer K. Weiss, of Houston, Texas.
