Eric Wellisch

Asheville - Eric Wellisch, 94, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Deerfield Retirement Community. A funeral service will be held at Beth Israel Synagogue, 229 Murdock Ave. Asheville at 10am, Tuesday, July 14.

Eric was born in Wiesenfeld, Austria. He immigrated to the US just before World War II and fought against the German army. Eric earned a Bachelors, Masters, and PHD in chemistry and worked for Olin Corporation as a chemist in Brevard, NC. Eric was very active in the Jewish community in Asheville.

Eric is survived by his wife, Lillian Rosenfeld Wellisch; son, Dan Wellisch; and sister, Trudy Schonberger.

Eric will be buried at Lou Pollock Memorial Park with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beth Israel Synagogue.

Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Ave., is assisting with arrangements
